The MPSF men’s water polo season was continued by two games in Los Angeles last weekend. Home sides recorded important wins in both games.

No.4 UCLA hosted No 2. Stanford at Spieker Aquatics Center. The UCLA Bruins beat the Cardinal 10:8  and completed an undefeated season at the home pool. The Bruins won all 8 matches which they played in front of their supporters.

After the first quarter, UCLA led 3:2. The Bruins earned a crucial advantage in the second period. At halftime, they were 6:2 up. The hosts added one more goal in the first possession in the third period for 7:2. Than Stanford started climbing back. The Cardinal cut a deficit (7:3) very soon, but before the last period, the gap between the two teams was four goals (9:5).

Stanford dominated the last period. The visitors came very close (9:8) 2:52 from the end. A minute later they didn’t manage to level the score on their power play. The big thriller was ended by a Montenegrin Nicolas Saveljic, UCLA’s sophomore, who netted his 4th goal at the buzzer, for the final score 10:8.
