The 16th round of the Italian Championship offered a few very interesting games, which were very important in a race for the Final Six berths.

Ortigia won all three points to return to the 5th place in the table. The Sicilians faced Florentia in Florence. The visitors had an excellent start. Florentia water polo players found themselves 2:6 down in the 10th minute. They managed to comeback step-by-step. Florentia equalized in the middle of the third period (7:7), but Ortigia entered the last period with a slim advantage (8:7). Early in the fourth quarter, the hosts back the terms on equal once more (8:8). Ortigia responded with three goals in a row. The visitors went 11:8 up three minutes before the end. Ortigia, led by Albert Espanol (5 goals), celebrated an 11:9 victory. The visitors took revenge for a defeat in the match against Florentia, played in Siracuse (5:6) in the third round.

Florentia fell into the 7th place, behind Lazio, which had to fight hard to win points in the match against last-placed Bogliasco. After three minutes of play in the third period, Lazio went 4:1 up, while it had a 6:2 lead with less than three minutes before the final buzzer. In the remaining time, Bogliasco scored three goals, but there was no time for them to earn at least a point. Lazio won 6:5.

The rivals were in the neck-and-neck race until the end of the third quarter. They were tied at the last break (5:5). The visitors from Genoa took a lead after 23 seconds of play in the last period.
