Several exciting matches were seen in the 5th round of the 100th Italian Championship, but the big match of the day was played in Sori where Pro Recco hosted Sport Management.

The match in Sori was the 2nd consecutive big derby for Sport Management water polo players in a span of a few days. On Wednesday, they were defeated by Brescia (7:10). The encounter in Sori was very balanced from the 1st until the final buzzer.

The big rivals were tied after the 1st quarter (1:1), as well as at halftime (2:2) and before the last period (4:4). In the middle of the 4th quarter, Gonzalo Echenique found the back of the net twice in two consecutive attacks and pulled Pro Recco to a 6:4 lead 03:42 minutes before the end. That proved vital in Recco’s win. The visitors responded in their next possession (Fondelli 6:5). Gonzalo Echenique, the man of the match, added his third goal with 02:37 to go, for a new 2-goal lead (7:5). Sport Management cut the deficit in the 31st minute.
