Tamas Marcz it is. After the expired contract of Tibor Benedek, several well-known Hungarian coaches applied for the vacant job of Hungary’s men’s national team coach for the next year. Marcz won the tender following a voting procedure and will be the new men’s national team head coach in a contract that runs from January 1st, 2017 through 2020. Until June 1 of next year, Marcz will carry out the duties parallel with his work as head coach of the BVSC club, from which point on he will be the full-time national team coach.
42-year old Marcz is a Syndey 2000 Olympic champion, world championships silver medallist, and two-time European champion. Played a large part of his career in Italy where he became Italian champion twice. Since his retirement as an active player, he worked as head coach of BVSC. In 2014 also acted as an assistant to the Andras Meresz coached Hungarian women’s national team.
