Szolnok survived, one more derby for the finals

Never underestimate a heart of the true champion! Szolnok beat Eger at his swimming pool 12:6 which means that the destiny of the second finalist of the Hungarian water polo championship will be known on Saturday. That game will be played in Szolnok.

Szolnok opened the game in big style, with a lot of authority at both ends of the swimming pool. Tamas Mezei scored the first goal, then Hosnyánszky equalized, but after that, it was all about Szolnok.

By the end of the first quarter, the visiting team scored two more goals to gain the serious lead. First, it was Gergo Zalanki and then Andrija Prlainovic.

Eger was nervous and Szolnok knew how to use this fact. At the start of the second period, Aron Younger scored the fourth goal for Szolnok while Batori Bence gave the defending Hungarian and European champion a 5:1 lead.

Finally, Eger managed to find an answer. By the middle of the third quarter, the home team scored three goals, Uros Cuckovic, Hosnyánszky and Strahinja Rasovic so Eger reduced the deficit to 6:4.

Until the end of the third quarter, it was a goal for goal game and that was more suitable for Szolnok. By the end of this period, the visitors had a 9:6 advantage.

It was really over when Gabor Kis fount the net to give Szolnok a 10:6 lead at the start of the final quarter. Prlainovic and Batori scored each one more and European champion got a convincing victory when it was most needed.

And as for the fight for the fifth place and LEN Euro Cup participation next season, we will see a fight between BVSC and Miskolci.

BVSC won the decisive match at Debrecen 10:9. It was an exciting duel in which Patrik Macsi scored an equalizing goal two seconds before the end, but then Bence Szabo reacted quickly to score an amazing winning goal for the Budapest side.
