As Hungarian water polo championship goes on, leaders from Szolnoki play better and better. Today they won easily a match of Round 5 in Budapest against BVSC – 16:5. It was a 15th consecutive win for Szolnoki in all competitions. Straight from the start of the match guests showed some muscles and took a 5-0 lead. Andrija Prlainovic found the net twice in this period. BVSC managed to score only five BVSC scored the first goal of the game a minute before the end of the first half. In the second half, it was Denes Varga who was the main figure in Szolnoki team which can now concentrate on the next match against Brescia in LEN Champions League.
Eger accepted this challenge from Szolnoki and also won in Budapest against Vasas 14-10 and now again has two points less than leaders in the league. It was not an easy task at all. Vasas played really well especially in the first half when the host had a two goals lead (5-3). But then Milos Cuk emerged as a match winner. Serbian ace scored four times and by the middle of the third quarter, Eger overturned to 10:6 lead. And basically, that was the end of the game. Two more quick goals for the guests meant that Eger could be more relaxed in a final couple of minutes.
Ferencvaros recovered from the last week defeat in Budapest derby against BVSC and today won a tough match away against Szeged – 9:7. In this way, Fradi continued good streak against Szeged, because this was a ninth match in a row without defeat. Visiting team had a good start, Norbert Madaras leading the way. The only lead Szeged had in this game was in the finish of first half when first Manhercz and then Kiss scored for 4:3 and 5:4. But, Ferencvaros quickly turned things around. Szilard Jansik, Daniel Varga, and Balazs Sziranyi found the net, the defence did its job in the third and fourth quarter, so guests won three points.
OSC got another win in the battle for the third place, this time away at Miskolci – 14:9. With a big 5:2 lead at the early phase of this game, OSC showed that there will be no surprise tonight. Zsolt Juhasz and Lukas Seman were among the best in the visiting team, with both scoring four goals a piece.
Honved continued the winning streak, but this time it was very easy for Budapest team because it played away against the worst team in the league – KSI. Honved won 14-7 and this was a fifth consecutive success for Marton Szivos and friends. As it was expected, Szivos the best scorer with five goals, while Gergely Kiss scored twice. There was never a dilemma in this match, Honved controlled things in the swimming pool. At the half-time Honved was leading 9-5, and then scored four consecutive goals to seal the win.
PVSK continued a good tradition winning against Tatabanya. Today, it was 9-7 for PVSK and it was a fourth straight victory against this opponent. PVSK is still chasing Honved who is a leader in the relegation table. Kaposvari beat host Szentesi 12-7 with Jozsef Berta and Ferenc Vindisch both scoring hat trick. Debreceni finally won after three defeats in a row and they managed to do it against UVSE 11-6.
