Szolnok and Ferencvaros are still neck and neck

Szolnok and Ferencvaros water polo clubs after the games of Round seven continue a neck and neck race for the first place in the Winners stage of the Hungarian championship.

The defending champion played against visiting Miskolc and won 15:12, while 11 home players scored at least a goal. Even though the offensive part of the play was very good, Szolnok’s coach Sandor Cseh could not be satisfied with a defensive display of his team.

Alex Bowen scored five goals for Miskolc and created a lot of problems for Szolnok players. Despite the final result, this game was not so close, because after, the first three quarters, Szolnok had a 13:8 advantage.

Jozsef Sike’s team managed to cut the deficit in the last eight minutes of this game. In the Szolnok team, Serbian duo was the best – Milos Cuk scored a hattrick, while Milan Aleksic found the net two times.

The defending Euro Cup champion and this year finalist, Ferencvaros won a Budapest derby away against Honved – 17:7.

Honved really tried to fight with the guests who, but they only managed to score three goals in the first half. It was a matter of routine in the third and fourth quarter for the visiting team.

Denes Varga scored four goals, Daniel Varga found the net three times, while Nikola Jaksic scored two times. For Honved, this defeat leaves them at the seventh place in the standings.

After a win against BVSC (14:9), Eger remained alone in the third place, but far away from the leading duo. The home team started the game well with five goals in the first quarter and never lost a lead during the game.

BVSC managed to cut the deficit to just one goal (10:9), but Eger scored four times in a row in the finishing minutes of the game. Strahinja Rasovic was a man of the match with five goals.
