Favourites collected points in all matches of the 20th round in Italian Championship. Some of them had easy tasks, some had to fight hard.

Sport Management demolished Ortigia in Verona, in a match that had been expected like the biggest derby of the round. Ortigia, 4th-placed before the game, looked strong in the first quarter. The visitors earned a 4:1 lead (7th minute). Sport Management dominated from that point on. The Sicilians didn’t put the ball into hosts’ net in the following 15 minutes, while Sport Management scored 11 goals in a row and went 12:4 up in the middle of the third period. After that, the home side cruised to a 15:7 win.

Savona defeated Posillipo at home, and thanks to Ortigia’s loss climbed in the 4th place. The Naples-based team took a better start and led 4:3 in the 11th minute. But this was the last goal of Posillipo this evening. Savona equalised in the next attack. Then came a new problem for Posillipo, which came to Savona with 11 players. Rossi was excluded because of brutality foul and Posillipo had to play with one player fewer in the pool for 4 minutes. Savona didn’t manage to score in these four minutes, but it converted a man-up 50 seconds before halftime for a 5:4 lead. In the third quarter, the hosts doubled an advantage (6:4). Posillipo ran out of gas for the last eight minutes, Savona won 9:4.

As expected, Brescia collected three points, but the 2017 runner-up went through scare moments in Bogliasco. Brescia led 2:0 in the 3rd minute, but the hosts responded with two goals by the first break. There were a lot of turns in the 2nd and in the 3rd quarter. An experienced Brescia player Mladjan Janovic converted a man-up in the last second of the 3rd period for 7:7. Brescia broke the hosts in the fourth period (10:8).

Pro Recco achieved another convincing victory. The title-holder hosted Catania, which fought bravely in the opening minutes. The visitors were 2:4 and 3:5 down early in the second period. Then Recco produced an 8:0 rush. The hosts built a 10-goal lead deep into the third period (13:3) and never looked back (19:5).

Florentia took the 7th place, by beating Trieste at home. Florentia had a 7:2 lead (14th minute), but Trieste started climbing back and came close early in the fourth period (8:6). The hosts took the control, they scored five goals in a row until the end for a 13:6 win.

Canottieri Naples returned home from Torino with three points (11:7) and kept the 6th place, with a solid nine-point advantage ahead of 7th-placed Florentia.
