Spain, Greece, and Russia still have the perfect record!

Spain women national water polo team scored another big win at the European championships in Barcelona. After a great game against Germany, La Furia Roja trashed Turkey 32:2 in the match od Round 3 in the group phase.

In the first period, the Spanish team managed to get away with a 5-0 lead, with the goals of Leitón, Anni, Forca, Bach, and Maica. And it was even more in the second quarter in which Spain found the net nine times, without conceding a single goal!

Nothing changed in the second half because Spain continued to score from all possible positions in the swimming pool. By the end of the third period, it was 23:1 for the host nation and Spanish players didn’t relax even in the final quarter.

Like Spain, the Russian national team continued to dominate in the B group of the competition. On Tuesday, Zbornaya beat Germany 27:5.

In the first quarter, it may seem to someone that Germany could make some problem for the Russians, but it was the wrong impression.
Ekaterina Prokofyeva, Olga Gorbunova, and Elvina Karimova all scored four goals each until the final whistle to give another confidence boost to their team for the rest of the competition.

Serbian water polo team was defeated by the current European champions – Hungary easily won the match 23:6.

In the first minutes of the game, the Hungarians made a big difference and after the first quarter, they had a 9:1 lead. Hungarian water polo players continued at the same rhythm, while Dejan Jovovic’s team played somewhat better in the third period.

At that time, Serbian water polo players scored three goals. However, the question of a winner in this match was never raised. and the Hungarians additionally increased the difference in the last eight minutes.

Serbia will play against Spain and Turkey by the end of the group phase.

Greece national team also had a very easy job against Croatia and won 21:2. The Greeks proved to be the boss already at the start when they took a 4:0 lead.

By the end of the first half things were very much clear as Greece national team gained a 10:2 advantage. It was just a matter of goal difference in the end

Greece has three wins and a perfect record at the tournament so far and the next rival is Israel on Thursday and it’s fair to say that they will decide on the first place in the group on Saturday when they play against the Netherlands.

The Dutch water polo team drew against Italy – 6:6 in this round and it was a first „loss“ of points for Oranje in this competition.

The Italian fans will celebrate Arianna Gragnolati and Roberta Bianconi because they scored quick goals in the last three and a half minutes to give earn a point for Italy.

Sabrina van der Sloot (2), Vivian Sevenich, Nomi Stomphorst, Dagmar Genee and Maud Megens scored for the Netherlands.

The Netherlands will encounter French and Greek later in the group phase later this week.

French national team beat Israel 9:5 and made an important step in the fight for the second place in the A group of the competition.
