There were a lot of excitements and plenty of twists and turns in the 20th round of the Italian Championship. Three matches were decided by a goal. Only three Champions League participants Pro Recco, Brescia, and Sport Management achieved convincing wins.

As usual, Pro Recco recorded the most convincing win of the day. The reigning champion, led by Filip Filipovic (5 goals) and Aleksandar Ivovic (4), demolished Lazio in Rome – 22:6.

Sport Management had no problems in a clash with Trieste – 18:6.

After a slow start, Brescia defeated last-placed Bogliasco. Bogliasco kept up with the favorite, for a while. Before the last period, Brescia water polo players had a minimal 7:6 lead. They dominated the last quarter and extended the margin of their win to 4 (10:6).

Savona took a big step towards the „safe zone“ (upper than 10th place). Savona hosted 4th-placed Posillipo, which played without two important players Massimo di Martire and Rossi, who missed the match because of red cards in the previous two rounds. It was a close contest from the first until the last minute. Savona entered the last period with a slim 7:6 lead. In the final eight minutes, Savona doubled an advantage for a 9:7 win.

Savona remains in the 10th place, as 9th-placed Roma defeated Florentia in Florence. Florentia led for most of the time. It had an 8:7 lead with 3:30 minutes remaining on the clock. But, the visitors took all three points. Roma converted two man-ups in the last few minutes and recorded a one-goal victory (9:8). The team from the capital of Italy maintained a 3-point advantage ahead of Savona.

Ortigia  earned three points, narrowly defeating Iren Quinto. After the third quarter, Ortigia was 5:4 up. Early in the fourth period, Napolitano found the net from a penalty shot for 6:4. The Sicilians maintained the 2-goal lead until the last minute (8:6). Quinto scored its 7th goal 33 seconds before the end when it was too late. Ortigia defeated the Genoa-based team 8:7 and jumped from  the 7th to the 5th place, ahead of Florentia and Lazio.

Canottieri climbed into the 11th place. The Naples-based side defeated Catania in a “crazy game” with big twists and turns. After the first quarter, Catania, the visiting team, had a 3:1 lead. Canottieri shut out the visitors in the 2nd quarter, while the hosts scored 6 goals to build a 7:3 advantage before the second half of the encounter. Catania dominated the third period and came close (6:7) before the final 8 minutes. In the last quarter, both teams scored a goal each, Canottieri maintained a slim advantage (8:7 in the end).
