Four rounds before the end of the regular part of the season in the Italian league, five clubs have qualified for the Final Six. Pro Recco will, almost sure, stay in the first place on the table. Along with water polo players from Genova, places at Final Six have secured Brescia, Sport Management, Posillipo and Cannotieri. In this moment, Savona holds the 6th, last ticket for the Final Six.

After the 22nd round, the players of Savona increased advantage ahead Acquachiara and Trieste, their rivals in the race for 6th place, As expected, Savona defeated Quinto with ease (8-3). Trieste lost in Genova, against Pro Recco. Acquachiara didn’t manage to earn at least one point in the match against Torino 81. Savona now has 32 points, eight more than Trieste and Aquachiara.

Pro Recco didn’t have any problems in the match against Trieste, despite that the champions played without the top scorer Mandic, Di Fulvio and Bodegas. The head coach Vladimir Vujasinovic let them to rest, before more important challenges. Pro Recco won 15-8 and extended its winning streak in the national championships to 71.

Two clubs from Naples, Posillipo, and Canottieri achieved victories in Rome, at famous „Foro Italico pool“. Canottieri, led by Alex Giorgetti (4 goals) defeated Rome 8-5. Two hours later, Posillipo beat Lazio 14-7. Posillipo is still fourth on the table, with a point ahead of Canottieri, but the battle for the fourth place isn’t important because 4th and 5th in the regular part of the season will play each other in the quarterfinals of the Final Six. Most likely is that quarterfinals will see new Naples derby, and a winner of that game will face the first placed in the league, which must be Pro Recco.

Brescia like a storm in 2nd half

Brescia achieved the most convincing victory in this round. Vice-champions beat Ortigia 15-5, thanks to a great performance in the second half. In the third minute of the 3rd quarter, rivals were tied (5-5). In the remaining 13 minutes, Brescia scored ten goals in a row for the 15-5 victory.

Torino 81 won an important three points and now is two steps away from the bottom of the table. Led by the 36 years old veteran from Serbia Ivan Vuksanovic, who scored 3 goals, the water polo players of Torino 81 beat Aquachiara 11-8 and overtook Bogliasco. Torino holds 12th place now. Bogliasco was defeated by Sport Management (11-15) in their pool.
