In the 24th round of Serie A Pro Recco set a new record for the history of Italian sport. The water polo players from Genoa defeated Quinto and they achieved 73rd consecutive victory in the national championships. They broke the Italian record, which was held by Teodora Ravenna, the women’s volleyball club, that won 72 games in a row in the mid-80’s.

Recco’s water polo players didn’t show any mercy against their local rival. They beat Quinto 15-1 and continued their winning streak, which lasts from December 13th, 2014, when Posillipo defeated them 8-6.

Brescia, led by Serbian Nemanja Ubovic (4 goals), demolished Bogliasco 21-8 and secured 2nd place.

Sport Managment, also, achieved a convincing victory, as a guest. The team from Verona defeated Torino 19-9. Top scorer of the match was Valentino Gallo (4 goals). The players of Sport Managment have 58 points now, which means that they will stay in the 3rd place because two rounds before the end of the league they have nine points more than Posilipo (4th place at the moment)

The battle for the Final Six is over. Savona beat Canottieri in Naples 8-4 and took the last ticket for the Final Six. Savona joined Pro Recco, Brescia, Sport Managment, Posillipo and Canottieri. The only dilemma is who will take 4th and 5th places. Posillipo is still 4th. Its advantage grew to four points ahead of  local rival from Naples – Canottieri. In the 24th round, Posillipo defeated another club from Naples, Acquachiara 12-8.

The struggle to avoid play-out is very interesting. In play-out will compete teams ranked from 10th to 13th place.

Beside clubs which advanced to the Final Six, far from the “dangerous zone” is Trieste (7th place). Thanks to a victory against Lazio (6-5) in Rome, Trieste secured a place in next season of Serie A.

Acquachiara is in the 8th place with three points less than Trieste and two points more than 9th placed Ortigia.

Ortigia defeated Roma 8-4. After the third quarter, Roma led 4-3. In the last period, water polo players of Ortigia made a series 5-0 and they earned three important points for a move from 11th to 9th place.
Ortigia is three points ahead two clubs from Rome, Roma and Lazio.
