OSC stuns Szolnok!

OSC water polo club made a huge away win against Szolnok in derby game of the Round five of the Hungarian national championship. This was a first defeat of the former European champion in the national competition this season.

As expected, there was a tough battle in the swimming pool that and Szolnok had a better start. After the equalized first quarter (2-2), Milan Aleksic scored twice and Dániel Angyal once to give the home team a huge 5-2 lead halfway through the second quarter.

However, things started to turn around after the break. With two quick goals from Sava Randjelovic at the beginning of the third quarter, OSC managed to equalize, and then Krisztian Manhercz found the net to give the visiting team a long-awaited lead.

After that, it was OSC who completely controlled the game. And when Balazs Erdelyi gave the visitors a comfortable 10:7 advantage two and a half minutes before the end it was a moment that opened the door for a win.

In the closing action, they made their way to each other, and it was decisive for Manhercz to win. This gave further impetus to the guests, Balázs Erdélyi also outlived the Szolnok defense and Viktor Nagy managed to keep the match with the well-defending OSC.

The last minute is Gergő Zalánkiand he adjusted this result – the guests took the three championship points from Szolnok to 10-8.

In another battle of undefeated teams, Ferencvaros celebrated against city rival BVSC – 14:6.

The home side started very well, Tomas Sedlmayer scored from their first attack, and Denes Varga extended the lead from a penalty shot. Kristóf Várnai opened the scoring sheet for BVSC. In the dying seconds od the first quarter, Toni Német give his team a 3-1 advantage.

Aaron Younger stretched this lead to three goals early in the second quarter only for Csaba Mészáros to reply. Marton Vamos once again gave the defending champion a three-goal lead and before the end of the first half, Nikola Jaksic made it 6:2.

BVSC couldn’t cope with Fradi firepower. Vámos, Dénes Varga and Miklós Gor-Nagy secured a comfortable 3-2 third-quarter win for the home team, and it was very clear that Ferencvaros will give BVSC a first defeat in the season.

Eger water polo club also kept a perfect record with a tight 11:10 win over visiting Honved. It was a close game up to the half of the third quarter when the score was 6:6.

But, after that Eger scored two times and the home team started to make a difference in the swimming pool.
