Visitors defeated their respective rivals in four matches of the 12th round of the 2018/19 Regional League. The only home team which recorded a win was Jug. The current champion convincingly beat Jadran Herceg Novi.
An encounter that was supposed to be the most exciting game of the day turned into a one-sided match. Jug led 1:0 after the first quarter of the clash with Jadran Herceg Novi, but the hosts opened the second period with a 4:0 run to jump on 5:0. Deep into the second period, the Montenegrins found the net for the first time and they trailed 1:5 at halftime. The title-holder secured the victory by the middle of the 3rd quarter. Jug scored 3 goals in a span of 70 seconds and went 8:1 up. There was no way back for Jadran. In the remaining time, both sides scored 6 goals each (14:7). Hrvoje Benic was the top scorer with 4 goals.
Mladost continued its unbeaten run, but the Croatian team didn’t win points with ease. Mladost traveled to Serbia to meet Sabac. Three months ago, Mladost demolished Sabac in Zagreb (19:3). The Serbian Cup winner played much better in the home ground. Mladost water polo players led from the beginning and they had a 3-goal advantage at halftime (5:2) . Two minutes from the end Mladost was 7:4 up. The hosts scored two goals in less than a minute to come very close (6:7), with 45 seconds to go. The visiting team didn’t let the Serbs equalize. There were no goals in the remaining time, Mladost took points with a 7:6 victory.
Partizan finally ended its long winless streak. Serbian champion recorded only one victory in the 1st part of the season, by defeating POSK in Belgrade on 27th October (7:6).
In the 12th round, Partizan played against the last-placed POSK in Split. This game was a close battle until the last break. Deep into the 2nd quarter, Partizan had a 3-goal lead (4:1), but by halftime, POSK reduced the gap (4:5). Eight minutes later, Partizan was two goals in front (7:5). In the 4th quarter, Partizan dominated for a 10:5 win. One of the key players in Partizan’s success was a goalkeeper Milan Bulajic, who posted 16 saves, including 6 POSK’s man-ups.
Jadran Split had no big troubles defeating Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade. The visitors led throughout the match. They built a 6-goal lead (11:5) 47 seconds from the end of the third quarter . Crvena Zvezda dominated the last period, but it was too late for a turn over. The Split-based team beat the hosts by three goals 13:10.
Mornar Split defeated Primorac in Kotor in a very close contest. Mornar led for most of the time, but its advantage was never larger than 2 goals. A minute and a 33 seconds before the last break, Mornar had a 9:7 lead, but the hosts equalized early in the 4th quarter (9:9). The teams were tied before Mornar’s last attack. (11:11). Marko Elez scored a winner for Mornar 27 seconds from the end – 12:11. Primorac couldn’t equalize once again.
