Water Polo by the Sea will for the first time spread out internationally. On September 23, gorgeous town Portofino in Liguria, Italy, will host the event which will see the Italian men’s water polo team face the World All Stars team. Before that, Italian women’s squad will play an exhibition match against the French team.

Water Polo by the Sea was founded six years ago by Thomas Whalan, four-time Aussie Water Polo Olympian, with a goal to promote water polo. After six successful seasons, WPBTS will expand worldwide.

Pro Recco water polo club will this year support the event as the Presenting Partner. Pro Recco’s General Manager Maurizio Felugo, Italian former Captain and London 2012 silver medalist, took part in the WPBTS in March. In an interview he gave back then, Felugo expressed his wish for organizing the event in Liguria.
