Leading trio with no mistake, Budva shocks Partizan

The leading trio didn’t make mistakes in the 5th round of the A1 Regional League. As expected, Jug, Mladost and Jadran achieved big wins. The surprise of the round happened in Budva, where the home team convincingly defeated Partizan.

Encounters between Jug and Primorje have been very thrilling matches past seasons. Now, the side from Dubrovnik is a big favourite The title-holders easily collected three points in Rijeka this evening. After the 1st quarter, they had a 5:0 lead. In the middle of the second period, they were 7:1 up. In the second half, only the margin of their win was in question. At the end, it expanded to eight (14:6).

Budva beat Partizan and earned its first points this season. Budva rushed to a 5:0 lead (16th minute), but Partizan recovered from the shock in the second half. The guests trailed 5:6 early in the fourth period. In the remaining time, Budva played excellent in defence, goalkeeper Aleksandro Kralj was outstanding. The hosts scored four unanswered goals for a 10:5 victory. Nobody expected so big win, despite Budva was a host.

The first half of an encounter between two rivals from Split, Mornar and POSK was very similar to the match in Budva. POSK jumped to a 5:0 lead in the 10th minute. Mornar water polo players started reducing its deficit step-by-step. They levelled the score (6:6) in the middle of the third period. By the end of this quarter, POSK went ahead again (9:7). Both sides had a lot of chances in the fourth, but only Mornar managed to score and match ended in a 9:9 draw.

Jadran Split surprised Mladost at the beginning of their clash in Zagreb. The visiting team led 2:0 in the 2nd minute. The hosts took control very soon. In the middle of the second period, Mladost had a 3-goal lead (7:4). The team from Zagreb jumped on 12:7 early in the fourth period and never looked back (16:9).

Jadran Herceg Novi did a clean job against Primorac in Budva, where the team from Kotor is playing as a host this season. Jadran earned a 4-goal lead (5:1) late in the 2nd quarter. After a balanced 3rd period, the score was 6:3. Jadran broke Primorac in the fourth period and won 11:4.

Crvena Zvezda (Red Star) recorded the 5th win in the A2 Group and holds the top spot.
