Jug, the Regional League title-holder, recovered from a home 7:9 loss to Mladost Zagreb on Day 2 of this season’s competition. This weekend, the Dubrovnik-based side played another derby. Jug faced Jadran in Herceg Novi and it recorded a convincing win.

The reigning champion controlled the match from the beginning. Jug led 4:1 early in the 2nd period. The hosts were coming back from time to time, but they weren’t able to equalize. After the third period, they trailed 6:7. Jug had a 9:6 lead 4:12 minutes before the end when Dragan Draskovic, Jadran’s eldest player (31 years), was excluded because of a brutality foul (substitution after 4 minutes and a penalty for Jug). That moment decided the outcome. In the remaining time, Jug produced a 5:1 run and collected all three points with a 14:7 win. Loren Fatovic was the top scorer (4 goals).

Partizan earned its first points by defeating POSK Split in a tight match played in Belgrade. The Serbs started strongly. They had a 3 goal lead (4:1) after ten minutes of play. But, they didn’t continue rolling. POSK produced a big comeback with four unanswered goals and went in front (5:4) early in the third quarter. Than came Partizan’s new series. The hosts scored three goals in a row and they were 7:5 up after their first possession in the 4th quarter. POSK replied immediately, but nobody could find the net in the remaining time and Partizan won 7:6.

Mladost trashed Sabac in Zagreb and kept the leading position in the table. The home side scored seven straight goals by the middle of the second period for 7:0 and never looked back (19:3).

An encounter between two newcomers in the Champions League, Jadran Split and Crvena Zvezda (Red Star) was pretty balanced until the middle of the third quarter. Jadran, the host in this match, earned a 4:1 lead deep into the second period. Red Star reduced the gap early in the third quarter (5:4), but Mornar responded with five goals in a row and took a 10:4 lead with 2:45 to go. Both sides netted a goal apiece by the end and Jadran kept a 6-goal margin 11:5.

There were a lot of twists and turns in a match Mornar – Primorac. The visitors from Kotor had a minimal advantage (4:3) at halftime. The second half belonged to Mornar. The Croats’ defence let just two goals in the third and the fourth period, while they netted five for an 8:6 victory.
