A daunting match-up for the youngsters of Jadran Herceg Novi in the LEN water polo Euro Cup quarterfinals playing the winners of the competition in 2014. A big first game in Italy formed the basis of an overall 16-14 victory following a narrow 7-8 loss at home in game 2 on Saturday as head coach Vladimir Gojkovic could celebrate a nice feat by reaching the semi-finals. The other match-ups ended with a less close final score. CSM Digi Oradea defeated Canottieri Napoli 5-8 in Naples in leg 2 to prove too much for the Italians. Sport Management Verona just came away with a 13-14 win in Hungary facing BVSC in game 1 but made no mistake on who should win this series in leg 2 at home. An 11-6 final score meant they advance to the semis in convincing fashion. The final contender, and perhaps Euro Cup title favourite, FTC, eliminated Primorje thanks to a clear 12-8 win at home in game 2. Led by Daniel Varga’s 4 goals, the Hungarian top team built upon their 9-13 victory in Rijeka two weeks ago. Whoever they’ll meet in the semis will mean a great clash as the Budapest-based side is yet to face another great contender from this competition when the draw will be performed in Dubruvnik on Wednesday.
