Hosts recorded wins in six of seven matches in the 10th round of the Italian championship. Favorites collected points with ease, but a few matches offered a lot of thrills.

Newcomer Iren Quinto upset Posillipo in Genoa. After the new loss, Posillipo fell in the 5th place of the table. Just three weeks ago the Naples-based team was 3rd-placed, behind Brescia and Pro Recco. The visitors controlled the game in the opening minutes. They had a 3:1 lead early in the 2nd quarter. Iren equalized 3:3. Posillipo built a new 2-goal lead (5:3), but a second before the end of the 2nd quarter Quinto’s Brambilla netted for 4:5. The hosts continued their series to earn a 6:5 lead. Before the last period, the teams were in the same starting point – 6:6. Posillipo went ahead in the 2nd minute of the fourth quarter (7:6). But, Iren was able for a big comeback. It produced a 3:0 series and took all three points with a 9:7 victory. Iren Quinto moved into the 7th place now, with 2 points less than Posillipo.

Pro Recco continued the series of big wins. This time, the current champion, didn’t have any mercy in Savona. Recco beat the hosts 14:3. Recco was the only visiting team which recorded the win in the 10th round. Eleven of Recco’s 14 goals were scored by three players: Gonzalo Echenique (5), Aleksandar Ivovic (3) and Luka Bukic (3).

Sport Management stunned last-placed Bogliasco in the first quarter and a half. Sport Management was 6:0 up three minutes from the end of the 2nd period. The players from Busto d’Arizio slowed down in the 2nd half and recorded a 12:5 win.

The league leader Brescia also didn’t waste a lot of calories, beating Catania in the home pool. After a opening 4:0 advantage, the hosts let Catania come close (4:2). Brescia responded with three goals and earned a 5-goal lead early in the 3rd quarter (7:2). After the 32nd minute the gap between two sides was 7 goals – 13:6.

Ortigia water polo players defeated Roma with a 5-goal margin (9:4) in front of their supporters in the stands of the outdoor pool in Syracuse. After the first two quarter it seemed that the clubs will fought a big battle. Ortigia grabbed an early 2:0 lead, but Roma responded with three goals in a row to go ahead (3:2). At halftime, the rivals were tied (3:3). Roma players managed to find the net just once in the second half of the game. The home team dominated to achieve a 5-goal victory.
