Szolnok and Eger water polo clubs continued to dominate in Hungarian championship, while Honved made a huge step towards top four finish in the B group of the competition.

The defending champion collected one more huge win, this time it was against visiting team of Vasas – 20:3. The Budapest water polo club is still fighting for the fourth place in the A group of the championship.

Tonight it was a game of cat and mouse in Szolnoki. There is no other way to describe a duel in which the home team leads 9:0 at the halftime. It was Szolnok’s tenth consecutive victory against Vasas in Hungarian championship.

Also, this was a third time in the season that Szolnok scored 20 or more goals in a single game. Fulop Bence was the best scorer for the European water polo champion with four goals.

Eger water polo players had an easy task because they played away against the worst team in the league – Szeged. Of course, they won big – 16:4 and maintained a perfect record in the B group.

Norbert Dabrowski’s men started the game furiously with a 3:0 lead and after that, it was just the question how big goal difference is going to be.

Strahinja Rasovic was definitely a man of the match with five goals, while Uros Cuckovic scored a hattrick for Eger. This was a 12th straight defeat for Szeged water polo team.

Another Budapest team, Honved maintained a course for securing the fourth place in the B group, after a win against visiting Szentes – 11:6. Honved opened the door to victory in the last minutes of the second quarter when it took a 5:2 lead.

With two more goals and a rock-solid defense in the third period the home team definitely secured an important victory, while Szentesi lost the last chance to enter the fight for the fourth place with this defeat.

In the big Budapest derby, Ferencvaros defeated BVSC 10:7 and saved a theoretical chance to catch Szolnok in the leading place of the A group. Two teams were tied (6:6) at the beginning of the last period of the game.

Marton Vamos opened that period with a goal that gave Fradi a lead and soon after that Jansik Szilard scored to take the home team to 8:6. When Denes Varga found the net three minutes before the end of the game, it was clear that Ferencvaros is going to win another city derby.
