What a show in round 14 of Hungarian water polo championship which brought down the curtain on the first part of this competition. It was fireworks all over the place as two famous Budapest clubs, Honved and Vasas managed to clinch the last Top 8 places.

Honved got an away 4-4 draw against Tatabanya in B group and took fourth place from BVSC who lost a game on home court against Miskolci – 6:10. And Honved did it just because it had bigger goal difference.

And what a match it was in Tatabanya. Tough, intensive, with great defensive plays on both sides. Tatabanya was controlling and leading the score through most of the game, but it was Adrian Simon who equalized for guest 13 second from time.

In a match played in Budapest, BVSC had to win against Miskolci to stay on Top 8 course, but obviously, it was a mountain too high for the home team.

Miskolci took control of the game by the end of the first period and never looked back. Marton Halek and Sasa Misic were simply unstoppable tonight, and they both scored three goals.

Vasas won an away game at Kozponti against KSI – 16:8 and that was more than enough to win fourth place in A group. Vasas was leading by four goals to none after six minutes, and it was just a matter of routine in the next three periods for the visiting team.

The leader of A group, Szolnoki once again showed its class against PVSK. Denes Varga was particularly good with four goals, and Szolnoki didn’t concede any in the second and third quarter.

OSC Budapest, Eger and Ferencvarosi also showed their muscles in this round. Fradi won 19:10 against visitors from Kaposvari, Madaras and Nyeki both scored four goals.

The only undefeated team in the league and leader of B group, Eger at home won against UVSE – 18:5 with Gergo Kovacs scoring five goals. OSC Budapest was in a good rhythm against Szentes and beat them 17:7.
