Ferencváros water polo players dominate first leg of Euro Cup 2017 finals

FTC Budapest water polo players are a step closer to winning the LEN Euro Cup trophy. The finals first leg was played on March 22 in Oradea, Romania. The visiting water polo team defeated their opponents CSM Oradea, 12-6.

Stefan Mitrovic led the way scoring three goals for the water polo squad from Hungary. Marko Cuk found the net two times, while the rest of the goals were scored by even seven Ferencváros players. On the other side, Mihnea Gheorghe was the only one to net more than one for Oradea.

The visiting water polo players were superior in the first quarter scoring three unanswered goals. They kept their three-goal advantage until the break (2-5), as the teams played a balanced second quarter that ended in a draw.

Oradea water polo players were not able to cut the deficit in the second half, during which Ferencváros increased their lead to four goals after the third quarter (4-8). In addition, they gave a powerful performance during the last eight minutes of the game and put four in the net to take a huge advantage into the next match.

Leg 2 will be played on April 5 in Budapest, Hungary.
