Eger beats OSC, merciless Szolnok

Eger still leads the race in the Hungarian league. The team from a big Hungarian spa defeated OSC in Budapest 9-6 in the derby of the 16th round (2nd in the championships group). Eger holds one point advantage over second-placed Szolnok. OSC stayed the  third.

In a duel of two participants of the Champions league OSC started well. The home team led 1-0 and 2-1 in the first quarter. After 1st period Eger controlled the match for most of the time and broke the team from the Hungarian capital in the last quarter. The last hope for OSC was given by Serbian veteran Slobodan Nikic, who netted to equalise (5-5), three minutes before the end of the third period. Then Eger scored three goals in a row and jumped to an 8-5 lead in the middle of the last quarter. Both sides scored one goal each till the end  and Eger won 9-6.

Szolnok was merciless against Ferencvaros. The reigning champions demolished the guests from Budapest 14-2. Szolnok had a 10-0 lead. The guests their first goal scored eight second before the end of the third quarter (10-1). Szolnok was by led Denes Varga who scored five goals.

The most excitement brought a clash in the Csazar-Komajdi Pool in Budapest, where Miskolc, as guest, beat Vasas. Vasas led 7-5 after minute and a half of play in the last period. Miskolc produced a brilliant comeback. The guests scored three unanswered goals in a span of three minutes and turned to a 8-7 lead (4.10 before the end). After that score wasn’t changed and Miskolc took home all three points.

BVSC defaeted Szeged 13-9. They secured the victory in the first half. BVSC had a 9-3 lead by the end of the second period and managed to keep the advantage in the rest of the game. With three points earned in this game BVSC jumped in the seventh position and pushed Vasas to the last.

Honved in a thrilling finish beat Debrecin 11-10 and took the top spot in the relegation group, ahead PVSK. The players from Pecs lost the game against Kaposvar in their home pool (12-13)
