It was supposed to be one of the derby games in the opening round od the championship group in Hungary, but in Eger, it was only one team in the pool. Home team demolished visiting Vasas 15-3 and remained at the top of the table.

It was just the first period in which Vasas was a real competitor. But when the game continued, it seemed like Eger pressed the turbo button and all of a sudden, home team started scoring goals from all over the place. Kovacs and Erdelyi hit the net in the second period and it was a good intro for the tornado which happened in the third and fourth quarter. Eger won second half 10-0, with Kovacs and Milos Cuk adding two goals apiece.

Eger’s main rival in the championship race, Szolnoki also played a magnificent game, winning 17-5 against visiting BVSC. With this win, Szolnoki stayed just one point behind Eger. Tonight Denes Varga was brilliant with four goals. This was Szolnoki 10th win in a row in all competitions.

Against BVSC it was all over already before the halftime whistle when Andrija Prlainovic hit the net and gave Szolnoki a 6-1 lead. The only question was what is goal difference going to be.

Maybe the biggest upset, if this could be the right word is the result in Budapest, where Ferncvaros draw 10-10 against Szeged who was leading in the first half. But, by the end of the match, they were a goal down. So they needed something big and the got it. Daniel Santa scored an equalizing goal 29 seconds before the end of the match.

Szeged played this game really well and at one point in the second quarter, when Krisztian Manhercz found the net, they were leading 6-2. This turned on the alarm for Ferencvaros and Milan Aleksic and Marko Cuk quickly responded. But Szeged never gave up, and when the had 8-5 in the finish of the third period, all seemed to be going well for them. They were wrong. Mitrovic scored twice to get Fradi back into the game.

This Ferencvaros result was a real present for the OSC who won against Miskolci 10-7 and now is from Budapest rivals. The hosts lead through the whole game and it was all over at the beginning of the last period when Drasko Brguljan scored and OSC took a 9-6 lead.

It was a good thing for OSC to get back on the winning track after two consecutive losses against Olympiacos in Champions league.

And while we are speaking of some losing streaks, Debrecen broke it in the first round of the relegation league. After four losses, Debrecen won big at home against UVSE – 17:9. And it was a fourth consecutive win for Debrecen against UVSE. Toth, Fekete, and Szoke all scored three goals each.

Honved was supposed to have an easy job at their pool against KSI, a team which lost all 15 games this season. But KSI refused to surrender and this resistance lasted until three minutes before the end of the game. Then Robert Fejos scored a goal for Honved, the hosts took an 11-8 lead and that was it.

PVSK Mecsek easily defeated visiting Tatabanya 11-6 and continued the race for the first place in the relegation table. Drasko Gogov was the best in the home team scoring three goals and this was the fifth win for PVSK in the last six matches.

In a clash between the two teams which both had three games losing streak, Kaposvari beat visitors from Metalcom Szentes 11-5.

The top four teams, from two groups, advance from the regular season. Teams start the Championship round with their points of the Regular season.

The top two teams will play for the title (best of five series). The third and the fourth-placed team are going to play for a place in the Champions league.

The bottom four teams, from two groups, advance from the regular season. Teams start the Relegation round with their points from the Regular season.
