Hungary Water Polo

Eger, Szolnok, and Fradi still perfect, first defeat for Honved!

Eger, Szolnok and Ferencvaros water polo clubs maintained their perfect record after the fourth round of the Hungarian national water polo championship, while Honved conceded a first defeat in the competition.

Szolnok opened the game in Tatabanya in a furious style. Kis, Rasovic, Zalanki, and Teleki all scored in the first quarter to give the visiting team a huge 4:0 advantage.

Kis continued to torture Tatabanya’s defense in the second period, while Aleksic and Jansik assisted him so Szolnok could go to a big break without a single worry.

Bence and Angyal found the net in the third quarter, and only in the last quarter, Szolnok’s defense played a little bit easier so Tatabanya scored three goals.

Eger water polo club again had an easy job away in Budapest against Domino Avus – 16:7. Only in the first quarter, the home team put up some good resistance.

After that, it was all Eger in the swimming pool. Santa, Murisic, Gyarfas, and Kurti found the net to give the visiting team a big 8:5 advantage before the end of the first half.

At the beginning of the third period, Kurti and Murisic continued to score goals, as Szolnok made the bigger difference on the scoreboard. In the last quarter, it was Norbert Hosnyánszky who played a great role.

The defending champion Ferencvaros had a tough job away against Metalcom Szentes, but eventually won 10:7. Fradi broke their rival only in the last quarter.

Halfway through the third quarter, it was 5:5, but then the visiting team scored four goals in a row. Jaksic, Mitrovic, Gor Nagy, and Younger found the net and gave Fradi a decisive 9:5 advantage. Honved water polo club was defeated for the first time and it was away against PVSK – 8:7. This was a very close game throughout the whole 32 minutes.
