There were no big surprises in the 13th round of the Hungarian Championship, but most of the favorites had to fight hard to win the points.

Group A

The most interesting game of the day was an encounter between Eger and BVSC, played in Eger. The hosts led for most of the time. Eger saw 8:6 up in the 21st minute. The visitors from Budapest came back with 4 straight goals and gained a 10:8 lead with 2:47 minutes remaining on the clock.

Just 42 seconds before the final buzzer, Eger ended a long scoreless period (9:10),but BVSC scored for 11:9 in the next possession. Strahinja Rasovic narrowed the gap (10:11) by converting a man-up four seconds from the end. Than, BVSC made a big mistake. Letay returned into the water after Rasovic’s goal, but he was already out of the match due to three exclusion. Eger gained a penalty shot. Rasovic found the net from the penalty to secure a point for the hosts – 11:11. The top scorers were Norbert Hosnyanszky (Eger) and Matyas Passztor (BVSC) with 4 goals each. BVSC water polo players could be satisfied with a point. One round before the end of the competition in Group A they secured a spot in the play-off (Top 8) group.

Ferencvaros was the only one of favorites which beat its rival with no troubles. The current champion faced Honved. Ferencvaros jumped to an 8:3 lead by the middle of the third quarter and never looked back – 13:4.

Szolnok produced a 4:0 run and jumped to a comfortable 11:7 lead a minute from time. In the end, the hosts defeated the rival by three goals (11:8) and cemented the 2nd place.
