The second part of the Hungarian Championship started this weekend by the matches of the 15th round. After the  round 14, the teams were split into two new groups – for places 1 – 8 and for places 9 – 16.

Home teams recorded wins in all 4 matches in the playoff group (places 1 – 8).

The highlight of the day in the playoff group was the match Eger – Miskolc, which offered a lot of excitements and a thrilling finish. Miskolc, the visiting team, controlled the first half of the game. It entered the third period with a 5:3 advantage. Eger scored three goals in a row to go in front (6:5). Before the last eight minutes, Eger still had a minimal lead (7:6). The hosts doubled the difference early in the fourth period (8:6). Three and a half minutes before the end, Eger was 11:9 up. Miskolc responded immediately for 11:10. In the remaining time, both teams had chances, but there were no goals. The visitors had the last possession, but they didn‘t manage to secure a point. Seven seconds before the end, Milos Milicic (Miskolc) had his shot blocked. Nine of 11 Eger’s goals were scored by three players: Strahinja Rasovic, Angelos Vlachopoulos and Norbert Hosnyanszky (3 goals each), but the best scorer was Miskolc’s Adam Nagy (4 goals).

Ferencvaros and OSC continued their winning streaks.

Ferencvaros taught a lesson to Debrecen, which upset Szolnok a week ago (12:10). “Fradi” didn’t leave any hope to the visitors. In the middle of the third period, Ferencvaros already had a 10:0 lead. There was no way back for Debrecen. The title-holder cruised to a 22:7 win. The top scorers were Szilard Jansik (Ferencvaros) and Gabor Kovacs (Debrecen), who each netted 4 goals.

OSC needed a lot of time to break Honved. Until 4:4, it was an even encounter. Deep into the second quarter, OSC took a 5:4 lead. OSC added two goals early in the third (7:4), Honved water polo players came to 5:7 three minutes before the last break. But, they couldn’t hit the back of the net in the rest of the game. OSC controlled everything and recorded a 10:5 win.

Szolnok defeated BVSC. The former European champion led throughout the encounter and secured 3 points with a 12:9 win. Szolnok was pulled by Milan Aleksic (4 goals).

In the group for the lower places Tatabanya defeated KSI (9:8), PVSK bettered Kaaposvar (7:4), while UVSE and AVUS shared the points (9:9). The match Szentes – Vasas will be played on April 13th.
