Canottieri Naples jumps over Ortigia, leading trio merciless (VIDEO)

In the 6th round of the 99th Italian water polo championship , Pro Recco, Brescia and Sport Management continued their winning streaks, defeating their respective rivals with an ease.  All other matches saw big battles.

Pro Recco taught a lesson to Acquachiara. The title-holder achieved a 16:3 win against the only team that still hasn’t earned at least a point. A few key player rested in this match. The best scorer, with 6 goals, was Lorenzo Bruni, while the youngest in the team,14-years old Pelliccia played for the 3rd time for Recco and scored one goal.

Sport Management demolished Catania (19:3) in Verona.

Brescia, the runner-up in the previous season, produced a very good defensive display too and defeated Trieste, as a guest (8:3). The visiting team secured a victory early in the fourth period. In the 29th minute, Brescia jumped to a 7:2 lead .After that, there was no way back for the very good home team.

There was a lot of excitements in Torino, where Torino 81 hosted Ortigia. After balanced first half (4:4 before the 3rd quarter), Ortigia, pulled by Boris Vapenski (3 goals), built a 2-goal lead till the middle of the fourth period – 8:6. Torino managed to return on equal terms 39 seconds before the end (8:8) when Guffuri hit the net from an extra. Ortigia didn’t score in the last attack and rivals shared the points

Canottieri Naples achieved the third win in a row and now holds the 4th place ahead of Ortigia, that was 4th before this round. The team from Naples took all three points in Savona. After the second quarter, Canottieri led 3:2. Savona players levelled the score 25 seconds before the end of the 3rd quarter (5:5). But six seconds before the last break Eduardo Campopiano netted his 3rd goal and Canottieri again went in front (6:5). The guests added two goals in the final period for an 8:5 lead (1:29 remaining on the clock). Savona scored its 6th goal in the last minute. It was too late, Canottieri managed to keep the advantage and earned an 8:6 win.

Posillipo, the local rival of Canottieri, recorded its first victory this season. This match was very similar to the encounter in Savona. The first 16 minutes crucial for an outcome. Posillipo was 4:2 up at half-time and kept the advantage until the end (8:6).

Florentia defeated Lazio 11:7 and caught up its rival from Rome in points. Florentia water polo players led for most of the time. In the middle the 3rd quarter, they had an 8:3 lead. The guests netted four unanswered goals and trailed only 7:8 early in the fourth quarter. But,in the last three and a half minutes, Lazio netted three goals in a row (two in the last minute) for an 11:7 victory.
