Two nice clashes in the Water polo Euro Cup semi-finals can be expected. Title favourites FTC from Budapest saw Jadran Herceg Novi appear as the opponent after the draw was performed in Dubrovnik on Wednesday. The Montenegrin side will start at home in leg 1 on January 18 of next year. The other match-up will see Sport Management Verona meet Romania’s top team of CSM Digi Oradea in yet another interesting battle.
Also drawn was the women’s Euro League main round, to be played from January 13-15 next year in four groups across Europe.
Two of the groups will be played not too far from each other in Spain as both Sabadell and Sant Andreu will host group A and B respectively. Sabadell headlines a group that consists of Greek main rival Vouliagmeni, Ugra Khanty-Mansyisk from Russia and Hungary’s BVSC.
Sant Andreu will have a daunting task at home to finish with the first two, although not impossible, as they’ll face favourites Kinef Kirishi, fellow Spaniards of CN Mataro and Italy’s RN Bogliasco.
In group C reigning champions Olympiacos take on main rivals Dunaujvaros from Hungary with Dutch side UZSC and France’s Lille as outsiders also in play.
Group D will be played in Messina, Italy where the home team meets fellow Italians Padova, Hungary’s top team UVSE and ZVL from the Netherlands.
