The Dynasty remains strong in Spanish water polo. One more time Barceloneta water polo club defended the national title after another win against Terrassa. The visiting team won 8:4 tonight, after a 7:5 victory two days ago. This is Barceloneta’s 18th title of national champion in club’s history and also 13th triumph in a row.
Despite the fact that Chus Martin’s team was already thinking about LEN Champions League Final eight tournament in Genoa, it managed to remain sharp and focused to finish the domestic job in just two days.
The hard play in both defenses was the main charachteristics of the game in the first quarter. The first goal of the game was scored in the second minute of the second quarter. And it was Felipe Perrone who found the net.
Terrassa managed to equalize also in the extra man situation and the scorer was Fran Sanchez. Barceloneta got to a new lead after Alberto Munarizz put the ball into the home team net. Bernat Sanahuja equalized again, while Josip Vrlic maintained the good rhythm for the visiting team and left them in a lead before the end of the first half.
In the first attack of the third quarter Sergi Mora’s goal, a third for Terrassa, revived hopes of the domestic fans. But, Barceloneta was very patient in play building so Roger Tahull netted the fourth goal.
Quick response again from Sergi Mora meant that things were square again, but Marc Larumbe was playing great and after a qaunterattack found a way to put the ball in the right place before the end of the quarter-
Martin Famera’s goal at the beginning of the last quarter gave Barceloneta a comfortable lead and oppened the door to victory and trophy. Alejandro Bustos scored the final goal of the game so the Barcelonata’s championship party could begin.
Now, Chus Martin’s team is going to prepare for the closing event of the season in Genoa and match against Eger in the quarter finals of the Final Eight.
